Kalinga Lancers post first win in HIL; beat Mumbai Magicians 2-1

After two successive defeats, Kalinga Lancers posted their first win in the second edition of the Hockey India League (HIL) defeating Mumbai Magicians 2-1 at the Kalinga Stadium here on Saturday.

The home team took the lead in the 7th minute through a brilliant goal by Lucas Villa while Zalewski Aron scored the second field goal in the 26th minute.

After the first half, Mumbai Magicians scored a goal in the 39th minute.

However, the performance of Kalinga Lancers’ custodian Harjeet Singh was spectacular as he made a brilliant save of a penalty corner in the last minute and won the man of the match award.

The home team missed four penalty corners in the match.

In the next match, Kalinga Lancers would meet Delhi on Sunday.
Satisfied with the performance of his team, Kalinga Lancers coach Terry Walsh said the players are growing in confidence which will help them in the next match.
