Rs 70 lakh looted from car near Naveen Niwas

In a daring  broad daylight robbery, some bike-borne criminals on Saturday looted a city-based builder’s son Biswajit Sahu near Naveen Niwas, a high security area and snatched away Rs 70 lakh in cash from him.

According to sources, the  incident took place at 10.30 am when Biswajit, son of Ugrashen Sahu a well-known builder whose Jagat Jiban Infrastructure  office is located in  the Forest Park area, was on his way to the Allahabad Bank branch at KIIT University area to deposit a sum of Rs 70 lakh  in his car (OR 02BG 2626).

At a little distance from the chief minister’s residence Naveen Nivas near the Palaspalli flyover, the bike-borne robbers armed with sharp weapons blocked Sahu’s car from the front side and threatened to kill him and his driver Mohan Sahu. .

The miscreants then took away Rs. 70 lakh in cash kept in a bag in Biswajit’s car and fled the spot.

The incident came to light when the builder Ugrashen staying at plot No-HIG-13 in Pokhariput area under Airfield police station lodged a complaint with the local police here this afternoon.

Acting on the complaint, the police started investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile twin city Commissioner Dr RP Sharma along with DCP Nitinjeet Singh interrogated the builder’s son and his driver to ascertain facts.
