Nuapada: At least two farmers reportedly sustained injuries during an exchange of fire between Maoists and security forces near Kholibhitar village under Boden police limits in Odisha’s Nuapada district today.

The injured, identified as Chhatar Chinda (45) and Bidya Chinda (53) of Bhaktu village, were admitted to the district headquarters hospital. Chhatar was later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla for better treatment.

“Chhatar sustained injuries above his waist. X-ray report revealed that a bullet is inside his abdomen. He has been referred to VIMSAR in Burla. On the other hand, Bidya sustained minor injuries on his chest,” a doctor said.

According to reports, the incident took place around 10 am during a gunbattle between Maoists and DVF and SOG jawans while the security forces were conducting a joint combing operation in the area. In the meantime, the two farmers were having tiffin at farmland.
