Dhenkanal: In a tragic incident, at least two persons were killed and seven others sustained critical injuries as the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck near Baniapada in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district this morning.
The deceased and injured ones have been identified as employees of Jindal Thermal Power Limited.
According to reports, nine staff of the company had gone to Kendrapara from Angul in a Bolero SUV to attend marriage ceremony of one of their friends.
While returning, the driver of the ill-fated car tried to overtake a vehicle during which a speeding Hyva tipper approaching from opposite direction hit the car.
All of them were admitted to Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital (DHH) where Pabitra Mohan Das and Satyanarayan Mishra were declared dead.
Three of the victims were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack while four others are undergoing treatment at the DHH.
