Athagarh, Jul 4:
More than a hundred students of Rahangula Ashram School in Athagarh subdivision of Odisha’s Cuttack district fell ill due to suspected food poisoning on Friday evening.
They are suffering from diarrhea and vomiting accompanied by fever. At least 32 of them have been admitted to the Sub divisional hospital at Athagarh and are undergoing treatment.
While the exact reason behind so many students falling ill at the same time is yet to be ascertained, doctors in attendance, based on preliminary investigations, suspect it could be a case of food poisoning.
Meanwhile, a medical team is attending on the affected students in the school premises and is collecting their blood samples while keeping a close watch over the situation.
ADM Cuttack, sub collector Athagarh, sub divisional medical officer Athagarh and others are camping at the spot and are monitoring the situation.
Out of 435 students studying in this ashram school, 326 stay in the hostel inside the school campus.
